Paris, just saying that word makes my mind race. This whole trip was filled with friends, family, food, drink, memories and amazing scenery. Personally I think traveling abroad is the best thing you can do with your money. There is a whole other world out there and I have the bug.
We had 6 nights and 5 full days in Paris and didn’t stop moving the whole time. A routine was established pretty quickly, up at 8 am, grab a baguette, go go go all day, dinner around 10 pm, drinks, then off to bed at 2 am. Okay, there were a few drinks during the day but it was vacation.
We stayed in the Latin Quarter just a few blocks from Notre Dame. It was a very lively neighborhood to say the least. The walking only street was littered with bars, restaurants, and a crepe place right outside our door (I had a nutella/banana crepe pretty much daily). A few days into our visit we figured out the bike rental system and it made all the difference (their system is really remarkable). I’m not sure my feet and knees could of handled the rest of our stay without it. Riding a bike around town is the best way to travel, you could cover ground quickly while still being close to the action. We tried to see as many things as possible but with only 5 days it’s not possible. I had to leave some things for my next visit. Here are some of my favorite photos of Paris. I have plenty more images to share and will post more from time to time.

Our stay in Normandy was quite short but time was used wisely, needless to say we got to see some pretty amazing things. Upon getting off the train, we were swept to Etretat. This was an unexpected stop and I’m so happy for the experience. Etretat is an old fishing village nestled among limestone cliffs and the english channel. It’s probably most known feature is elephant’s trunk. Below you can see an old WWII bunker with elephant’s trunk in the background. We took a little hike above elephant’s trunk to get an overview of the whole village…pretty amazing.
The next day we went to Honfleur, I have to say this is one of the coolest towns visited during the trip. I could of taken images of this place for days. This is also a fishing village, however, during the day the streets are full of vender’s. You can get everything from shoes to hog snout and everything in between. I have no idea the engineering feats that went into constructing the buildings but it makes a great image.
We stayed just outside of Le Havre in a tiny little village and took day trips to the mentioned places. One evening I took a walk and got to enjoy the northern country side. Such a beautiful peaceful area. A special thanks to Xavier and Gyliane for putting us up in their home. We made homemade savory/sweet crepes, drank wine, ate cheese, and enjoyed your company very much. Oh, and that baguette was the best I had in France.

This has to be one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever been. Lac d’ Annecy is a huge lake nestled in the French Alps. The main city is called Annecy, however, there are little villages all around the lake. I had the pleasure of staying in a little village called “Talloires”. It was an amazing place filled with character, not to mention the food and wine. Most of these images are from Annecy, but a few were taken in Talloires. One morning we woke up early and took a hike in the mountains behind our hotel, the first two images were taken on that hike.
Once we started driving around the lake it hit me, are you kidding me, only one full day at such a magical place! Needless to say I wanted to spend a week, however, our schedule wouldn’t accommodate. I will be back, I’ve already promised myself. Oh, I had one (funny I had quite a few) of my best meals here.

The first few days of my trip was spent in southern France. I stayed in Nice, but took little day trips. I have to say driving in southern France was awesome! Everyone is so aggressive, drives fast and pretty much stops and parks wherever they like, I fit right in. Here are some pictures from Nice, Eze, Saint Paul, Monaco, and Villefranche Sur Mer.

So, first things first, I’m not much of a writer! Yeah, yeah, aren’t you supposed to write in blogs you might ask? Of course you are, but since I’m better at talking through the barrel of a Canon, I’ll focus more on photography.
I recently had the pleasure of taking a trip to France, so what better way to start off my photo blog than with some of my favorite images from that trip. During the France tour we visited Nice, Monaco, Saint Paul, Eze, Annecy, Honfleur, and Paris to name a few. It was an amazing trip and I can still taste the food and wine. I took around 55 gig of images so needless to say I’m still editing. I’ll post some today and more later. Someone told me that the reason people take pictures while traveling is to make their friends jealous, well let the jealousy begin…
